- What is SUPERNOVA?
SUPERNOVA is a new Theatre Company started by a group of artists from New York and Ohio.
- What type of work does SUPERNOVA focus on?
We focus on the creation and production of New Works. Our New Works to date focus on Classical and Contemporary Human Rights Issues. During a performance we want the audience to have a strong relationship with the production they are viewing. Direct Address is often used casting the audience in the play. We want them to be inspired, not just in awe with spectacle.
- Can I join the Ensemble?
Yes! If you would like to volunteer/intern on a particular production just fill out a contact form under CONTACT US. We will review your request and conduct an interview for those serious in participating.
- What is "STRIPPER"?
Imagine a mystical nightclub where two women who grew up together now dance. One loves her job one doesn't. They fantasize about what it was like for female dancers of the past and encourage the audience to dream with them. They question their reality past and present. While they dream and ask questions of their reality they also perform their role for the audience. "Stripper" attempts to expose the relationship between dancer and patron. We have based these funny and violent stories on actual events. Rated R for adult themes and language.
- What is "Lincoln and The Hard Road to Jubilee"?
A One-Man/One-Act Show: Abraham Lincoln struggles with the horror of war and the problems and promise of emancipation.
- Artists with disAbilities Art Gathering 2010!
In the Fall of 2010 we co-sponsored and showcased local Dutchess County artists with disAbilities at Take Five Deli in Poughkeepsie, New York. Photos of the event are on our MySpace Webpage.
- What Human Rights Issue are you working on for 2011?
Supernova supported Dutchess Community College's Masquers' Guild Production/Fundraising event, "Broadway Cares" this December 2011.
- What will Supernova create in 2012?
Our playwrights are working on a New Work for our 2012 production. Please check back for more information!
